Impromptu o la magia de la imagen cinematográfica celebrada en un musical animado

Abstract

Impromptu (María Lorenzo, 2017) is an anima-ted film shortlisted for the Goya Awards 2018. A Valencian production by Enrique Millán, despite its still brief tour by festivals, the short film had its Spanish premiere at the prestigious ALCINE - Alcalá de Henares Film Festival, it has accumu-lated numerous international selections, and it has won the award for Best Artistic Animation at the 1st Expression Art Movie Festival in Los Angeles (USA). But Impromptu is, above all, a love letter to the origin of cinema, drawn by hand. Its traditio-nal animation labour, the difficulty sought in the execution of the work and the issues addressed make Impromptu as personal as counterflow pie-ce. The beauty and power of this brief, but mighty work, synchronized with Chopin's music, are the authorial marks by María Lorenzo: it reunites the use of the piano as a fetish instrument of the musicalization of her productions, the presence of flowers, of the waves and the portraits by which it shows a certain predilection.

Impromptu (María Lorenzo, 2017) es un cortometraje de animación preseleccionado para los Premios Goya 2018. Producción valenciana de Enrique Millán, a pesar de su todavía breve recorrido por festivales, el cortometraje tuvo su estreno español en el prestigioso ALCINE – Festival de Cine de Alcalá de Henares, ha acumulado numerosas selecciones internacionales, y ha obtenido el premio a la mejor animación artística en el 1st Expression Art Movie Festival de Los Ángeles (EEUU). Pero Impromptu es, sobre todo, una carta de amor al origen del cine, dibujada a mano. El trabajo de la animación tradicional, la dificultad que se ha buscado en la ejecución de la obra y los temas abordados hacen de Impromptu un proyecto tan personal como a contracorriente. En la belleza y fuerza de esta breve pero poderosa obra, al ritmo de la música de Chopin, se manifiestan las marcas autorales de María Lorenzo: el empleo del piano como instrumento fetiche de la musicalización de sus producciones, la presencia de las flores, de las olas y los retratos por los que muestra cierta predilección.
