dc.description.abstractLa Cadena de Suministro (SC) se define como una red global de organizaciones que cooperan para mejorar los flujos de materiales e información entre proveedores y clientes al menor costo y la velocidad más alta. El objetivo de la Cadena de Suministro es la satisfacción del Cliente. (Proth, 2002). El término Cadena de Suministro entró al dominio público en el año de 1982, cuando Keith Oliver un consultor en Booz Allen Hamilton lo uso en una entrevista para el Financial Times. A mediados del año de 1990 se empezaron a realizar publicaciones sobre el tema. El propósito de la Cadena de Suministro (SC) es coordinar y mejorar procesos interorganizacionales, creando sinergias o estrategias de cooperación con proveedores, intermediarios y empresas de servicios logísticos a fin de identificar y mejorar procesos críticos buscando cumplir los requerimientos de clientes a un menor costo, con mayor calidad y rapidez. Ha existido confusión entre el término Cadena de Suministro (SC) y Logística, entiéndase logística es la parte de la gestión de cadenas de suministro que planifica, implementa y controla el eficiente y eficaz el flujo y almacenaje de bienes, desde el punto de origen hasta el punto de consumo y viceversa para poder cumplir con los requerimientos de los clientes (Ribeiro, 2.004).es_CO
