dc.description.abstractEl objetivo del presente estudio es determinar la incidencia de delirium POP a las 72 horas en pacientes mayores de 65 años llevados a cirugía ortopédica en el Hospital Universitario de la Samaritana. Metodologia: Se trata de un estudio prospectivo observacional de incidencia realizado en pacientes mayores > 65 años llevados a cirugía ortopédica en hospital universitario de la samaritana, con hospitalización en el post-operatorio en piso o unidad de cuidado intensivo entre Septiembre a Diciembre del 2012. Con una muestra de 132 casos, a los cuales se les aplico la escala de CAM-ICU a las 24, 48 y 72 horas posoperatorias. Resultados: Se encontró una incidencia de delirium postoperatorio del 37% con un intervalo de confianza entre el 29 y 46%. Se recolectaron un 58,3% del género femenino y el 41,6% del género masculino; con un promedio de edad de 74,5 años. Dentro de las variables se determinaron como factores de riesgo estadisticamente significtivos, el inicio de mas de 3 medicamentos intrahospitalarios (RR 1,77 IC 1,01-3,11), la presencia de alteraciones electrolíticas (RR 2,46 IC 1,77-3,54), el ayuno mayor a 8 horas (RR 2,55 IC 1,01-6,41), la deshidratacion (RR 1,77 IC 1,15-2,72), la hipotension (RR 2,10 IC 1,41-3,2), el uso de benzodiacepina (RR 3,05 IC 2,12-4,40) y el dolor postoperatorio a las 24 y 72 horas. Conclusiones: Se concluye que la incidencia de delirium posoperatorio de esta poblacion es concordante con lo encontrado en la literatura mundial; encontrando una relacion estadisticamente significativa con factores de riesgo que pueden ser modificables. Adicionalmente se encontro una fuerte relacion entre el uso de benzodiacepinas y el mayor riesgo de presentar delirium posopertario.es_CO
