Metabolic Syndromes and their consequences are common causes of morbi-mortality in Colombia. Although much of the scarce funding research in Latin America are often focused to support studies on infection diseases, the highest rate of morbi-mortality are due to cardiovascular diseases, stroke, diabetes, etc. In 1990, vascular diseases caused 789,000 deaths, while parasites and infectious diseases caused 473,000 deaths. In our country, obesity is also a risk factor that has been increasing during the last decade. Although we have not done statistical analysis using a large population, some studies argue that more of 35% of the population may have overweight and obesity and approximately 9 % of the children and adolescents.en
