The dengue virus is responsible for a febrile infectious disease, affecting different organs, including the liver. Hepatitis A is an acute asymptomatic infection in a high percentage, however, clinical manifestations can range from mild to severe and even cases of fulminant liver failure. The endemic areas of both viruses are shared, so co-infection can occur; however, the available evidence in these conditions is limited due to the possible similarity of clinical manifestations due to liver involvement in endemic areas, making it necessary to take into account these infections. Therefore, the objective of the manuscript is to map the available medical literature on hepatitis A virus and dengue virus infections in adult population, contrasting with the clinical experience of a 34-year-old male patient diagnosed with hepatitis A and dengue co-infection. © 2023 Instituto de Altos Estudios de Salud Publica.
