Embryonic stem cells and assisted reproductive technology: much less than biotechnology

Abstract

The recent news entitled "Human embryonic stem cells obtained by nuclear transfer of somatic cells", published by the journal Cell (1), about the research being carried out by a North American, Thai and Korean team1, led by the University of Oregon, brings We necessarily remember what happened in Korea in 2005 (2) and which was one of the greatest examples of what Beecher called scientific misconduct or scientific fraud at the time (3). We are not in a position to ensure that this is a new case of scam, but we can confirm that this investigation is based on an approach that, from an ethical point of view, has multiple problems and is unacceptable.
