dc.description.abstract	A nivel mundial nacen aproximadamente 15 millones de recién nacidos pretérmino (RNPT) cada año y las complicaciones que presentan están asociadas con las muertes menores de 5 años (Organización Mundial de la Salud, 2018); en Colombia se encuentra que por cada 100 niños nacidos vivos 10 son prematuros extremos y muy prematuros, existiendo la necesidad de tener cuidadores con entrenamiento para dar continuidad al cuidado; los RNPT son seres humanos que acarrean un cuidado integral y especial, están expuestos a presentar complicaciones como: infecciones, hemorragias cerebrales, trastornos hidroelectrolitos, síndrome de dificultad respiratoria y problemas cardiovasculares. Durante la hospitalización del RNPT los cuidadores tienen muchas inquietudes en relación al manejo y cuidado que deben tener al momento del alta hospitalaria; se consideran inexpertos y les atemorizan garantizar esos cuidados especiales cuando ya estén en el hogar, generando un periodo de vulnerabilidad al no tener una competencia que le permita dar continuidad al tratamiento instaurado, a su vez reconocen la importancia en la adquisición del conocimiento, el desarrollo de una habilidad para el manejo integral del RNPT e igualmente en el reconocimiento de signos y síntomas de alarma.	es_CO
