dc.description.abstractEl desarrollo de la telemedicina, ha venido presentando un crecimiento exponencial en los últimos años impactando directamente el mercado de países desarrollados, generando nuevos retos, los cuales abarcan aspectos legales y axiológicos relacionados con el uso intensivo de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación (TIC); estos últimos juegan un papel importante en el ámbito económico y social facilitando el almacenamiento de grandes volúmenes de información y obtención de datos con rapidez, apoyando así la toma de decisiones y soportando la colaboración en red. Sin embargo, es reconocido que este tipo de tecnologías puede llegar a fallar, presentando un deterioro en el uso de este instrumento (1,2). Todo este impacto de la telemedicina ha permitido documentar experiencias exitosas que han favorecido su acogida por los sistemas de salud, además de barreras que dificultan el adecuado acceso oportuno al servicio de salud, sobre todo en el área rural; no obstante, estas barreras han venido cambiando con el paso de los años y la evoluciona de la tecnología (3).es_CO
