Prosocial behavior has been established as a relevant indicator for children socioemotional development and has been linked to decreased levels of mental problems. The present study aims to identify the interaction between prosocial behavior at 3.5 age years and parenting (positive and negative) at 5 years, in prosocial behavior at 7 years. A sample of 235 colombian families participated in a first assessment and 145 in a third assessment by completing self-reported questionnaires to identify prosocial behavior (at 3.5 age and at 7 age) and parenting (second assessment at 5 age). Multiple linear regression models showed a significant relation with a contribution of 15% of the total variance between prosocial behavior at 3.5 age and parenting at 5 age, with prosocial behavior at 7 age, also, a significant and positive relation with positive parenting at 5 age and a negative and significant relation with inconsistent discipline. In conclusion, children prosocial behavior at 7 age years was explained by initial levels of prosocial behavior, and parenting constitutes a relevant role by predicting increased or decreased levels contingent to the parenting dimension. Results are discussed according to previous literature, as well as it applicability for prevention and intervention process.en
