dc.description.abstractEl temperamento como constructo de la psicología, ha sido abordado desde diferentes perspectivas (tipologías, dimensiones y perfiles); en el presente documento se hace un recorrido histórico sobre éste concepto, partiendo de Hipócrates hasta llegar a las concepciones más estudiadas y aceptadas en la actualidad, en las cuales se hace mayor énfasis. Adicionalmente se dedica un apartado a la diferenciación entre otros conceptos ampliamente utilizados en la psicología como el carácter y la personalidad, se expone una breve revisión de los factores biológicos y contextuales del temperamento con la sustentación a partir de documentación empírica actualizada y se realiza una discusión en torno a la funcionalidad del constructo de temperamento bajo una postura conductual de la psicología.es_CO
