2014Resumen
The article describes the results of a content analysis on the image of immigrants in prime time television fiction in Spain, based on cultivation theory and research about ethnic minorities in the media. The data lead us to conclude that there is a clear under-representation of immigrant characters, who also tend to be depicted in mainly negative stereotypes (e.g., performing criminal activities). Results are discussed in relation to the role that television fiction could play in reducing prejudice through mediated intergroup contact (Park, 2012).
