dc.description.abstractEl objetivo de este documento es mostrar los resultados de la investigación acción sobre los efectos de las estrategias de pre-lectura, tomando en cuenta los principios de aprendizaje auto-dirigido, en la comprensión lectora de 36 estudiantes de bajo desempeño en un colegio público de Palmira, Colombia. La intervención consistió en 11 secciones en tres meses y las estrategias de pre-lectura escogidas fueron activar y construir conocimientos previos. El enfoque método-mixto se usó para analizar la información desde una perspectiva cuantitativa y cualitativa. Por un lado, los métodos cuantitativos, exámenes de lectura y encuestas aplicados al inicio y al final del proceso, se usaron para medir el mejoramiento en la comprensión lectora, analizar el uso de estrategias de pre-lectura, y evaluar el proceso de aprendizaje auto-dirigido de los estudiantes. Por otro lado, los métodos cualitativos, observación, registros y entrevistas, se usaron para medir la percepción de los participantes sobre su comprensión lectora y el aprendizaje auto-dirigido. Los resultados del t-test indican que la comprensión lectora mejoró estadísticamente hablando y el análisis cualitativo apoyo este punto de vista al mostrar que los estudiantes se sintieron más motivados hacia el aprendizaje y más confiados cuando leen un texto, comenzando aprendizaje auto-dirigido y obteniendo mejores resultados en los exámenes de comprensión de textos.es_CO
