This thesis investigates the potential of Streptomyces strains as biocontrol agents and plant
growth promoters for basil (Ocimum basilicum L.), with a focus on combating Fusarium oxysporum
and Botrytis cinerea. Divided into four chapters, the study begins with CHAPTER ONE discussing
the importance of basil crops for Colombia, the impact of F. oxysporum and B. cinerea, the
challenges in controlling these phytopathogens, the detrimental effects of chemical fungicide
use, and the opportunity for employing Streptomyces as an alternative solution
