Post-intubation tracheal stenosis is the leading cause of benign tracheal stenosis (BTS), occurring in approximately 10% to 22% of patients requiring orotracheal intubation before the COVID-19 pandemic; other causes are also noteworthy (1-5). Post-intubation tracheal stenosis frequency increased after the COVID-19 health crisis due to prolonged intubation periods, with reported incidence rates ranging between 47% and 71% among patients requiring invasive mechanical ventilation (7).
