Desarrollo socioafectivo : Una mirada desde la comunicación familiar con niños y niñas en etapa media de la infancia que residen en la zona rural del Municipio de Algeciras, Huila

Abstract

Este texto surge de la investigación realizada en el municipio de Algeciras Huila, con niños, niñas y familias de la zona rural. Se enaltece la importancia del desarrollo socioafectivo, teniendo en cuenta la comunicación familiar como pilar dentro de las prácticas familiares. Para ello se inició con un acercamiento a los sentidos que poseen los participantes acerca de temas como el desarrollo socioafectivo en niños de etapa media, y la relación con la comunicación familiar. En este sentido, el objetivo general de la investigación buscó conocer el desarrollo socioafectivo de los niños en etapa media de la infancia y la relación con la comunicación familiar a partir de las narraciones de los participantes. La ruta metodológica partió de un enfoque cualitativo con alcance exploratorio, teniendo como instrumentos de recolección de datos: dos entrevistas semiestructuradas, la aplicación de la escala adaptada de comunicación familiar (Cracco y Costa-Ball, 2019) y un cuestionario tipo Likert. En los resultados podemos decir que existen brechas entre lo expresado por los padres de familia y los niños en lo referente al concepto de desarrollo socioafectivo, de igual manera se evidencia que la concepción de la comunicación familiar se limita al acto de orientar acciones que cada miembro debe realizar.

This text emerges from a research study conducted in Algeciras-Huila with children and their families from the rural area. It highlights the importance of social and emotional development taking into consideration family communication as a pillar within daily life practices.To do this, we approached our participants’ senses to inquire about topics related to the social and emotional development of children in the middle stage of childhood and the relationship this has with family communication. In this sense, the general objective of this study is to identify the social and emotional development of children in the middle stage of childhood and the relationship this has with family communication based on narrations from the participants. The methodology underlying this study is that of a quality exploratory nature, having two (2) semi-structured interviews, the implementation of a family communication scale (Cracco & Costa-Ball, 2019) and a Likert-scale questionnaire as the main data collection instruments. As the main findings we report that there are gaps concerning what parents and children express in regard to the concept of social and emotional development. Similarly, this is also evidenced in relation to the concept of family communication as an act that is limited to orientations that shall be conducted by each family member. In sum, socio-emotional development and family communication present an undifferentiated behavior in which the elements do not associate with one another. Thus, each relates to its own nature, demonstrating that communication is not regarded as a valuable tool that strengthens the socio-emotional development of children from this rural area. Therefore, we recommend providing families with more information about the topics related to this area of development, promoting constant support and assistance that may benefit children in the middle stage of childhood.
