dc.description.abstract | En países en desarrollo, millones de niños menores de 5 años no alcanzan su potencial de desarrollo por diferencias en condiciones socioeconómicas y por pocas interacciones dirigidas a su desarrollo en el hogar. Investigaciones en países desarrollados muestran que tanto el monitoreo parental del desarrollo, como compartir libros ilustrados son estrategias que benefician el desarrollo cognitivo y lingüístico en los niños. A partir de esto, este estudio analiza el efecto de dos programas de entrenamiento para cuidadores principales de niños entre 2 y 5 años: uno en el uso de una cartilla de monitoreo del desarrollo (CARE®) y otro en compartir libros ilustrados (DBS, por sus siglas en inglés). Se contó con la participación de 55 familias en riesgo psicosocial que habitan en dos zonas de Bogotá (Colombia). El estudio fue de tipo experimental y las familias fueron asignadas aleatoriamente a los dos grupos de intervención y al grupo control. Las intervenciones consistieron en entrenamiento específico a cuidadores durante 6 semanas. Los datos recogidos correspondieron a los momentos de pretest (línea de base) y postest (al terminar la intervención). Los resultados indican que los niños del grupo de CARE® y DBS mostraron niveles significativamente mayores en el área del lenguaje y lógico matemático. Asimismo, los niños que recibieron alguna intervención mostraron niveles significativamente menores en alertas y riesgos del desarrollo. Se concluye que ambos programas demostraron ser intervenciones relativamente cortas que mostraron beneficios en el desarrollo del lenguaje y cognitivo del infante. Se destaca que los cambios y beneficios pueden estar mediados por el aumento de las interacciones entre el cuidador y el infante. | es_CO |
