dc.description.abstract | Los neonatos prematuros son aquellos bebés que nacen con menos de 37 semanas de gestación, son más susceptibles a presentar distintas complicaciones; incluyendo elevado riesgo de mortalidad, alteraciones o retraso del desarrollo motor, cognitivo y de comportamiento en comparación con los bebés a término. Lo anterior debido a que al nacer con un desarrollo intrauterino incompleto no han alcanzado la madurez estructural y funcional de los órganos y tejidos, como lo es el cerebro con mayor frecuencia en el área periventricular ya que se encuentra en un periodo crítico de rápido crecimiento y maduración así como la regulación del flujo sanguíneo y oxigeno lo que hace más susceptible a lesiones, generando desviaciones en el patrón del desarrollo motor, el cual normalmente se caracteriza por el perfeccionamiento de habilidades a lo largo de la vida ya que son el resultado de las interacciones entre los procesos genéticamente determinados, biológicos y ambientales;25 lo que conduce a que estén expuestos a riesgos psicosociales, alteración en su desarrollo, disminución de los movimientos espontáneos y exceso de estimulación sensorial, este riesgo aumenta ya que la función cortical y la organización neural no está organizada y la interpretación de las sensaciones no responden de manera adecuada frente a los estímulos del medio. | es_CO |
