Sobre la Clonación. ¿Por qué no me dejaría clonar?

Abstract

La posibilidad d la clonación humana parece alejarse del terreno de la ciencia ficción y convertirse en un hecho cargado de significaciones bioéticas. Algunas de ellas son consideradas por el Dr. Pablo Arango en este artículo que además presenta una breve historia de este proceso y una definición del mismo.El valor y el respeto que merece la vida y la persona humana implica velar por la dignidad aunque a veces se tenga la tentación de utilizar la ciencia en beneficio propio. Nuevamente vale la pena recordar que todo lo posible en el plano de la técnica no es necesariamente ético.La clonación es la exaltación frankesteiniana de crear vida humana y controlar de modo creciente de su destino. Es el hombre jugando a ser Dios.

The possibility of human cloning seems to be moving away from the terrain of science fiction and it is becoming a fact laden whit bioethical considerations. Some of these are looked at by Dr. Pablo Arango in this article in which he also gives a brief history of the process and a definition of cloning.The value and the respect that life and human beings deserve implies that their dignity be respect, although at times there exists the temptation to utulise science for one’s own benefits. Again it is worth remembering that everything that is possible at a technical level is not necessarily ethical.Cloning is the Frankensteinian exaltation of creating human life and controlling its destiny in an ever-increasing way. Its is man playing at being God.
