%X A finales del siglo XIX, la fiebre amarilla fue asumida por la comunidad científica mundial como una enfermedad endémica que tuvo alta carga de morbilidad y mortalidad. En Colombia se confirmaron contagios en diferentes zonas del país, afectando la población en general con mayor afectación de la población rural. Esta patología por sus características generó múltiples estudios desarrollados por médicos y especialistas colombianos con el apoyo de la Fundación Rockefeller se adelantaron gestiones en salud pública tendientes a erradicar la enfermedad. Estos estudios fueron realizados por laboratorios altamente especializados con que contaba el país y se logró la producción masiva de vacunas para la inmunización en el país y la exportación. En la actualidad, no existen laboratorios públicos en el país que contribuyan al desarrollo científico, ni el estudio de patologías que contribuyan a la producción de vacunas que contribuyan a contrarrestar la afectación ocasionada por este virus y los venideros.
%X At the end of the 19th century, yellow fever was accepted by the world scientific 
community as an endemic disease that had a high burden of morbidity and mortality. In 
Colombia, infections were confirmed in different areas of the country, affecting the general
population with greater affectation in the rural population. Due to its characteristics, this 
pathology generated multiple studies carried out by Colombian doctors and specialists with 
the support of the Rockefeller Foundation. Public health efforts were carried out to eradicate 
the disease. These studies were carried out by highly specialized laboratories that the country 
had and the massive production of vaccines for immunization in the country and for export 
was achieved. Currently, there are no public laboratories in the country that contribute to 
scientific development, nor the study of pathologies that contribute to the production of 
vaccines that help to counteract the effects caused by this virus and future ones.
