2014Abstract
This paper suggests the use of a common ontology to assist with decision making and data-mining in the port domain. Five novel ontological descriptions that demonstrate how to address issues such as conflicts in terminology are presented. The ontology sketches presented in this paper not only provide a vocabulary for the consensual discussion of the port integration decision and to capture the relevant factors and measurement variables that can be used to manage and uncover new knowledge via data mining.
