On this basis, educators are logically responsible not only for the maintenance of traditional educational standards, but they must respond also to the challenges of a rapidly modernizing society, which in itself speaks to the inculcation of just and democratic practices. seen in this way, improvements in the quality of education are probably best achieved within a responsive system of education where the crucial role of the teacher is defined in terms of being knowledgeable, relevant, modern, and democratic (Toro, 1996).
