Lab exams whose goal is to help give a precise diagnosis and treatment for the patient are becoming more and more sophisticated. In light of technological and efficiency criteria, it is frequently forgotten that they involve a human being and that his/her dignity should have some priority over technological considerations. The passive and conformist attitude assumed at times by health professional that works in these areas can be the cause of regrettable harm to patients. This is the warning call the authors would like to make in order to promote a solid bioethical education for people working in labs as well as for pathologists.; Cada vez son más sofisticados los exámenes de laboratorio cuya finalidad es ayudar a un acertado diagnostico y tratamiento del paciente.

Estos temas y otros más generales relacionados con el consentimiento informado tratados en el artículo del médico psiquiatra Gilberto Gamboa Bernal de la Academia de Bioética de Santiago de Cali.; Telling the truth to the terminally ill and their families about the state of their illness cannot be used as an endorsement for euthanasia. Instead, It is an activity oriented towards facilitating a peaceful death and an acceptance that death and life are inexorably intertwined. These and other more general topics related to the informed consent, are looked at in this article written by Psychiatrist Gilberto Gamboa Bernal from the Bioethics Academy of Santiago de Cali.

1999-01-01T00:00:00ZSobre la Clonación. ¿Por qué no me dejaría clonar?Arango Restrepo, Pablohttp://hdl.handle.net/10818/138902017-11-30T16:06:52Z1999-01-01T00:00:00ZSobre la Clonación. ¿Por qué no me dejaría clonar?
Arango Restrepo, Pablo
Es el hombre jugando a ser Dios.; The possibility of human cloning seems to be moving away from the terrain of science fiction and it is becoming a fact laden whit bioethical considerations. Some of these are looked at by Dr. Pablo Arango in this article in which he also gives a brief history of the process and a definition of cloning. The value and the respect that life and human beings deserve implies that their dignity be respect, although at times there exists the temptation to utulise science for one’s own benefits. Again it is worth remembering that everything that is possible at a technical level is not necessarily ethical.Cloning is the Frankensteinian exaltation of creating human life and controlling its destiny in an ever-increasing way. Its is man playing at being God.
