%X Motivating children and adolescents to read is a topic of debate nowadays. Although some  researchers and teachers agree on the importance of fostering love towards reading, my  own experience as a teacher has shown me that very few youngsters display a genuine  pleasure for such an activity. This fact has enticed me to explore such a phenomenon in  order to create strategies that allow teachers to find a solution for it. The present research  talks about the challenges that students from Colegio Nueva Granda in Bogota face when  reading in their native tongue (mostly Spanish) and the strategies that I propose to motivate  them to get closer to reading.  In order to discuss how to find strategies to improve this deficit in reading in this International  School with more than 2000 students, my research proposes as its main objective to to  explore which transformations can emerge in my own pedagogical practice as a teacher of  their mother tongue, implementing an extracurricular space to boost reading in Spanish. This  will allow me to collect data and experiences that will help me disclose the specific needs of  my students in relation to their use of their native tongue. The proposed reading club will  also allow me to create a space for my students to expand their vocabulary in Spanish,  discuss with peers about the perception of the texts, and motivate students into reading in  their mother language. Finally, the proposed space will also allow me to collect students'  insights and upon that data, I will be able to design a new cycle for the reading club that  expands the experience I intend to start up and generate better results among the student  body.
%X La motivación a la lectura en los niños y adolescentes es un tema polémico en esta época, pues aunque varios investigadores y docentes concuerdan en la importancia de promover  un hábito por el gusto lector, en mi experiencia como educadora son pocos los jóvenes que  muestran gusto por dicha actividad. Esto ha generado la necesidad de investigar en torno a  esta problemática para encontrar estrategias que nos permitan darle una solución. La  presente investigación, habla del desafío que tienen los estudiantes del Colegio Nueva  Granada de Bogotá frente a la lectura en su lengua madre (español) y la estrategia  planteada para motivar un acercamiento a la misma.  Para poder entablar una discusión que se enfocara en buscar estrategias para mejorar una  situación que se presenta en esta institución internacional de más de 2.000 estudiantes, se  planteó como objetivo principal de la investigación, indagar sobre qué transformaciones se  suscitan en mi propia práctica como docente del área de lengua materna a partir del diseño  e implementación de un espacio extracurricular para motivar la lectura en lengua materna  (español). Esto para poder hacer una recolección de datos y experiencias que me ayudaran  a develar cuales eran las necesidades específicas de los estudiantes con relación al uso del español, la posibilidad de proponer el club de lectura como espacio que permitiera ampliar  su vocabulario, interactuar con pares sobre las percepciones de los textos y motivar su  lectura en la lengua mencionada. Finalmente, recoger las valoraciones y precepciones de  los estudiantes como insumo para proyectar un nuevo ciclo que me permitiera continuar con  la experiencia y así obtener mejores resultados.
