%X In the first place, this article aims to link Ralph Dahrendorf’s ethnological analysis on the traditional power structure with the acute approach to the “State’s types” (classified according to the preponderance of one or another function of the political power) proposed by Carl Schmitt. Finally the author points out how the western medieval political order was founded upon a traditional forma mentis, which contrasts with the rationalist mentality of modern Enlightenment.
%X En este artículo nos proponemos vincular el análisis etnológico de Ralph Dahrendorf sobre la estructura de poder tradicional con la aguda propuesta de las "clases de Estado" formulada por Carl Schmitt atendiendo a la pre­ponderancia de una u otra de las funciones del poder. Finalmente señala­remos cómo el orden político medieval occidental se configuró según una forma mentis tradicional, que se contrapone a la mentalidad racionalista del iluminismo moderno.
