abstract = {El presente artículo da cuenta de la manera en que el relato homérico de la Ilíada proporciona la clave de la conciencia humanitaria de Occidente, reconfiguradora del hombre y de lo humano. Así, pues, a través de nuevas modelaciones emotivas, que tienen como referente preciso su vulnerabilidad, se logra evidenciar una serie de exigencias y pautas comportamentales que buscan proteger la vida humana y su dignidad en el desarrollo de una contienda armada, a fin de limitar el uso desenfrenado de la violencia. En ese sentido, se indagará en esos patrones que generan nuevos modos de regulación social e introducen nuevas formas de convicción y múltiples mecanismos psíquicos de inhibición y autocoacción, que dan al hombre la posibilidad de avanzar en los límites del pudor, a la manera de Norbert Elías, quien considera al ser humano sin restricciones como un fantasma.

Se evidenciará cómo, a partir de una lectura crítica del texto de la Ilíada, se puede vislumbrar la simiente de la humanización de la guerra, y su impacto en todo el sistema de creencias y valores occidentales que siglos más adelante recogerá y desarrollará el derecho internacional humanitario, a través del respeto de unas reglas mínimas y de una mínima racionalidad ética, en busca de la protección del ser humano y su dignidad. De la mano del texto homérico daremos cuenta de los cambios en la constitución del comportamiento del hombre griego y de su incidencia en la estructura psíquica y afectiva, aleccionadora de la transformación de su emotividad, ante el dolor y sufrimiento humanos.},
abstract = {The present article describes how the Homeric narration of The Iliad cracks the Western humanitarian consciousness, which reshapes the idea of mankind and the definition of human. Thus, through new emotional models, whose vulnerability is a precise reference, it is possible to identify a series of behavioral requirements and standards that seek to protect human life and its dignity amidst an armed conflict, limiting the unrestrained use of violence. This article researches into those patterns that give rise to new forms of social regulation and introduce new forms of conviction, and multiple psychic mechanisms of inhibition and self-coercion. These enable the individual to advance in the limits of modesty in the Norbert Elías’ way, who considers the unrestricted human being a ghost. Therefore, from a critical reading of The Iliad, we can envisage how the seed of the humanization of war and its impact on the entire Western system of beliefs and values will, in the following centuries, compile and develop International Humanitarian Law, observing minimum rules and ethical rationality to protect human beings and their dignity. Along with the Homeric text, we account for the changes in the make-up of the behavior of the Greek man and their effect on the psychic and affective structure, exemplary of the transformation of his emotiveness to human pain and suffering.},
