abstract = {La acción diplomática española en el conflicto de Oriente Próximo se ha convertido en una larga sucesión de encuentros y desencuentros desde las posiciones políticas adoptadas por el franquismo hasta la actualidad. Este artículo, repasa los momentos más importantes de las relaciones con Oriente Próximo entre 1975 y 2004. El recorrido presenta el apoyo incondicional de Franco a los palestinos; cómo se llegó al reconocimiento oficial del Estado de Israel en 1986 y el creciente protagonismo español de los años noventa y primera década de este siglo, con acontecimientos internacionales que lo relacionaron directamente con el proceso palestino-israelí: la Conferencia de paz de Madrid, en 1991; la Conferencia Euromediterránea de Barcelona, en 1995; la reunión del Cuarteto de Madrid, en 2002, de donde saldría la Hoja de Ruta y la participación en la guerra de Irak en 2003, entre otros.},
